DESCRIPCIÓN:

Formación natural causada por la erosión en la base del paredón situado en la ladera de una colina dentro del bosque. Se encuentra dentro del Parque Nacional Yasuní, cerca de la margen sur del Río Napo. Bandadas de loros, pericos y guacamayos llegan al saladero, en el cual, las aves acuden a comer los minerales de la tierra para mejorar la digestión de los alimentos (frutos y semillas), a manera de un antiácido y digestivo natural. En el sitio se pueden observar a otros animales como roedores que también llegan a comer los minerales y a carnívoros menores en busca de presas. El saladero constituye un sitio de de excelentes oportunidades de observar a especies de fauna, en especial las aves y dentro de éstas a los miembros de la familias de los psitácidos (loros y pericos); pudiéndose observar a otras especies de animales herbívoros (guantas, guatusas, sahinos, ardillas entre otros) y carnívoros como tigrillos y gatos de monte.

Debido a las grandes cantidades de psitácidos que visitan el saladero, el sitio se ha convertido en un punto de observación y estudio de este grupo de aves. La caseta o ranchón construido especialmente para la observación de las aves, permite obtener fotografías, videos y grabación de las vocalizaciones de las aves, convirtiéndose en un atractivo muy visitado. Existe senderización y otros servicios de apoyo como sanitarios y áreas de descanso.

The Salty Wall of the parrots

Natural formation caused by the erosion in the base of the salty wall placed in the hillside of a hill. It`s inside of Yasunì National Park near the south margen of the Napo river. Flocks of parrots, periwigs and macaws come to the salty wall inn which, the birds comes to est the mineral of the land to improve the digestion of the food (fruts and seeds), like an atacid and digestive native. In the site they can be observed to other animals as rodents that also manage to eat the minerals and carnivorous minors in search of dams. The salty wall constitutes a site of excellent opportunities to observe the species of fauna, especially the birds and inside these to the members of the families of the birds (parrotsand periwigs); being able to be observed to other species of herbivorous animals (guantas, agoutis, sahinos (porks), squirrels, betweens others, and carnivorous as little tigers and cats of mount.

Due to the big quantities of parrots that visit the salty wall, the site has turned into a point of birds`s observation. The shed or cabin constructed especially for the birds`s observation it allows obtainning photographies, videos and recording of the birds`s vocalizations. Turnning into a much visited attraction. It exist paths and other services of support as sanitary and rest areas.
